Insta360 Luna Ultra Overview

The Luna Ultra from Insta360 is an AI-powered gimbal camera capable of capturing up to 8K30 video thanks to its Leica-engineered optics. The Luna Ultra features two lenses, one with a 1″ CMOS image sensor and one with a 1/1.3″ CMOS sensor. A triple AI chip ensures efficient low-light performance. The 2″ OLED touchscreen on the camera can actually detach to function as a wireless remote for control over distance. AI-powered tracking and rapid focus protocols keep your subjects in focus even during fast-action sports.

Triple AI Chip

The Luna Ultra comes equipped with a triple AI processing chip, two of which are dedicated to imaging for superior low-light performance. The other chip provides processing power for the rest of the camera’s functions.

High-Quality Imagery

Dual Leica-engineered lenses with professional imaging chips support up to 8K30 Dolby Vision video, 4K120 slow motion, and 4K60 PureVideo. The pro-grade telephoto lens can facilitate up to 12x zoom and 6x lossless zoom for crisp close-ups.

Enhanced Low-Light in PureVideo Mode

In tandem with the triple AI chip system and PureVideo mode, the Luna Ultra can capture up to 4K60 video in low-light environments with reduced noise and enhanced brightness and detail.

The Luna Ultra can support still images up to 37MP, but in scenic panoramic mode, those capabilities expand to 200MP for crystal clear details.

Deep Track 5.0 AI Tracking

Reliable AI tracking is enabled thanks to Deep Track 5.0 protocols. Auto-tracking can be toggled via the joystick or by selecting your subject on the camera touchscreen to keep that subject centered in frame. Active Zoom tracking follows the action, even when your subject leaves the frame. Group tracking keeps multiple people in frame. Smart Framing overlays a 3×3 grid of golden-ratio points and allows you to select a preset position to keep your framing consistent throughout.

Comprehensive Audio Connectivity

A 4-microphone array—three built into the camera and one in the detachable handle—captures high-quality audio with ease. A preinstalled wind guard reduces wind noise for a more natural sound. Connect wireless transmitters via Bluetooth using compatible Insta360 Mic Air or Mic Pro units.
